Cryptogram Archive
The daily archive fills up one puzzle at a time. Nothing is here yet, because we do not publish a puzzle page before the day it belongs to.
How the archive is arranged
Puzzles are filed by year, then by month, then by day. There are no “page 2” links to hunt through: a month page lists that entire month, thirty-odd puzzles, on one screen. A puzzle page appears on the morning of its date and stays up permanently afterwards.
We do not post puzzles ahead of their date, so nothing in here spoils tomorrow. And every page in the archive is the complete puzzle — the cipher to work on, and below it the answer, the author, the year and the original source. One page, not two.
Where to start
- The step-by-step solving method, if the puzzle is new to you.
- The letter frequency cheat sheet, to keep beside you while you work.
- The rules we set puzzles by, including the guarantee that no letter ever stands for itself.
